Oleksandr Usyk vs Anthony Joshua 2: Deontay Wilder's manager reveals 'enormous' update

Deontay Wilder‘s manager Shelly Finkel has claimed that Anthony Joshua is still an ‘enormous’ fight – regardless of the result of his rematch with Oleksandr Usyk.

The American has not fought since a devastating 11th-round KO defeat to Tyson Fury in their trilogy bout last year.

Wilder fought Fury to a controversial draw in 2018, before being knocked out twice by the Gypsy King in the space of a year.

And Joshua finds himself in a similar position as he faces Usyk in Saudi Arabia on August 20, having been beaten last September.

Speaking to The Sun, Finkel said: “I believe that fight is enormous even if he loses to Usyk.

“I don’t know anyone else’s numbers or money, it’s not my business but I heard that the Saudis put up a lot of money for Joshua to fight Usyk over there.

“I don’t believe Joshua – Usyk now is as big as Fury – Usyk is. And, being for all the belts, the Saudis may step up. Who knows?

“So there’s a lot of moving pieces but what I do know is there’s four big names at this point and that is Fury, Usyk, Joshua and Deontay.

“And this month, two of those guys will be fighting and that will clarify what the future is.”

Wilder, 37, hasn’t set foot inside the ring since being knocked out in the 11th round of his trilogy fight with Fury last October.

But the Bronze Bomber recently returned to training at the UFC Performance Institute in Las Vegas where he randomly bumped into UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou.

And according to Finkel, it seems as though everything is going according to plan as he prepares to make his highly-anticipated comeback.
