Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's daughter Karna makes history with Man Utd debut

History was made at Manchester United on Sunday as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer 's daughter made her debut for the club's women team.

Karna Solskjaer's substitute appearance against Bridgewater United in the Women's FA Cup made the pair the first father and daughter to play for the Red Devils.

United ran out 2-0 winners in the fourth-round tie at Fairfax Park, as two months after being sacked as manager of the men's team, Ole Gunnar and his wife, Silje, watched on from the stands in support of their 19-year-old daughter.

Karna, a forward with an eye for goal just like her father, was brought on with three minutes of normal time remaining, and the Norwegian received a rousing reception from the travelling supporters.

She was rewarded with her first senior appearance after impressing for the Red Devils' under-21 side and chants of "you are my Solskjaer" could be heard from the packed stands when Karna entered the fray.

Boss Marc Skinner affirmed that her involvement was not a 'token gesture' after she scored in the 5-0 WSL Academy Cup defeat of Aston Villa on Wednesday, taking her tally this season to 13 goals in 12 games, with Ole Gunnar again in attendance.

"It was deserved from the performance that I saw the other day, so congratulations to her," Skinner said post-match. "Obviously she's got a famous dad but she wants to be famous in her own right.

"What I'm trying to do is show them the level they have to jump to to be in and around this team, and it's a big jump but hopefully they can make it, with the wonderful support of Charlotte [Healy, academy manager] and her team as well.
