Oldham MMA star who was rugby league prodigy breaks opponent’s arm with kick on PFL debut
Haider Khan set the internet ablaze when he broke Mostafa Rashed Nada's arm with a kick in his PFL debut on Saturday night.
The promising fighter from Oldham had made a name for himself on the local mixed martial arts circuit, amassing an overall record of 8-1 before being recruited by the Professional Fighters League - making his first appearance in Dubai against seasoned pro Nada. While he achieved the first-round finish he would have been aiming for to make an impact in the promotion, he did so in a brutal manner that he may well have preferred to avoid.
The middleweight took control of the centre of the Smart Cage early on in a forceful manner, pushing back Nada with sharp front kicks to the mid-section while slowing his opponent down with teeps to the legs. With just under two minutes remaining in the first round, which seemed more like a period of sizing each other up than anything else, Khan delivered a powerful back leg kick to Nada's torso, with the Saudi Arabian using his lead arm to take the majority of the impact.
Regrettably for Nada, however, this led to his arm snapping completely on Khan's shin - with the fight being immediately called off as the fighter looked at his deformed forearm in a bewildered manner. Khan spun away in celebration following the stoppage, before swiftly returning to Nada to check on his opponent.
During the intense fight, commentator Sean O'Connell was heard making a grim observation: "There it is, there's a bend in the forearm where there's not supposed to be for Mostafa Nada," as co-commentator Dan Hardy weighed in with: "That's a fully broken arm. That is a full broken arm, my goodness. What a kick that was.
"It went straight through his forearm as he did that front kick snap up
