Ola Solbakken to Celtic transfer door narrows as Jota 'plan B' has Roma pushing hard

Roma are reportedly zeroing in on Celtic -linked Ola Solbakken with Jose Mourinho keen on the Bodo/Glimt winger.

Solbakken has been one of Bodo's star turns in recent seasons and impressed against both Celtic and Roma in this season's Europa Conference League.

He netted six goals in their Euro campaign and the 23-year-old is one of Norwegian football's brightest talents.

However he's out of contract at the end of 2022 and it's believed champions Bodo are desperate to recoup a fee for him rather than lose him for free.

That led to reports last month suggesting Celtic were keen. The Daily Mail claimed Solbakken is viewed as a budget plan B if a permanent deal can't be struck for loan star Jota.

Securing the return of the Portuguese star remains one of Ange Postecoglou's top priorities and it's believed talks are well underway over a £6m move.

But Italian outlet Il Romanista say the Serie A side have pounced on their lack of movement on Solbakken.

It's claimed a five-year deal has been agreed to take the player to Rome with only a fee left to be hashed out.

They say that is yet to be agreed with Bodo hesitant in negotiations after their fiery Conference League quarter-final exit to Mourinho's team.

But Roma remain determined to sign him and it's said they have suggested loaning him back for the duration of their Champions League qualifying campaign next season to sweeten the deal.
