Odin Thiago Holm in Rangers address as Celtic recruit sends 'bigger club' reality message to his homeland

Celtic new boy Odin Thiago Holm reckons the Scottish champions are a "bigger club" than many in Norway realise after he left boyhood club Valerenga behind.

And the playmaker admits he can't wait to face off against Rangers in the first Scottish Premiership showdown between the rivals next term. The 20-year-old arrived as the first recruit of the Brendan Rodgers era after the Irishman greenlit the £2.6m deal upon his return to Celtic Park and he will link up with the squad when they jet out for pre-season in Japan before they start their warm-up fixtures on July 19.

Ahead of linking up with his new teammates, the midfielder talked up the move in the Norwegian press as Holm admitted he was already dreaming of playing in front of a sold out Celtic Park. He said: "Celtic is a massive club, perhaps bigger than many realise. I am looking forward to playing in front of 60-65,000 fans on a weekly basis, the derby against Rangers and not least the Champions League in the autumn."

The Norway youth cap also admitted it was a tough decision to leave the club where he came through the academy to test himself overseas. He went on: "I have had a very good time in Valerenga.

"Came as a 15-year-old and has grown here in many ways, both as a player and as a person. I have been lucky to have played for Norway's wildest fans, and I greatly appreciate the support both through thick and thin."
