Occupants of abandoned car 'taken in knifepoint robbery' arrested

Police have arrested the occupants of a stolen car which was allegedly taken in a knifepoint robbery hours earlier.

Officers spotted the Toyota Corolla being driven erratically along Broad Street in Salford and found it abandoned a short time later.

The driver and passengers attempted to flee the car but were chased and swiftly detained.

Checks on the vehicle found it had been taken earlier in the day in a knifepoint robbery.

GMP Traffic said on Twitter in the early hours of Sunday morning: “This Toyota Corolla was sighted driving erratically by #XT58 on Broad Street, @GMPSalford.

“Abandoned a short time later, driver and passengers were chased & detained by #XT58.

“Vehicle found to be an outstanding stolen in a knife point robbery hours earlier.”
