Obscure Tottenham demand met, as new suitor prepares to test Antonio Conte faith in Bryan Gil

A new Spanish suitor who can satisfy a specific Tottenham demand have been linked with making a move for Bryan Gil, per a report.

The 21-year-old arrived from Sevilla last summer in a deal that saw Erik Lamela move the other way. Tottenham added an initial £21.6m to sweeten the deal, though Gil’s maiden season in north London failed to ignite.

Indeed, he was infrequently used by both Nuno Espirito Santo and Antonio Conte before being loaned out to Valencia in January.

The Spanish side reportedly harbour ambitions of bringing Gil back on board, though two factors could scupper their hopes.

Firstly, Spurs are reportedly prioritising a permanent sale. Secondly, if their demands aren’t met and they’re forced into accepting another loan move, AS report they want the club Gil joints to have European football on offer.

That would be with a view to putting Gil in the shop window and ensuring he features at a high level. Doing so would help to stabilise his value and could even increase it if he excels.

Valencia cannot offer European football next season, though one club that can are Real Sociedad. And per Spanish outlet Sport, Sociedad are mulling a move to satisfy their Director of Football’s long-standing interest in the winger.

Those claims are relayed by Sport Witness who state Sociedad chief, Roberto Olabe, is a big admirer of Gil. As such, a move could be on the cards this summer. However, it’s not specified whether they’ll target a permanent buy or loan.

Sociedad finished sixth last season to qualify for the Europa League. What’s more, they were reportedly one of the clubs interested in securing Gil on loan in January before Valencia pounced.
