NRL Watch: How England's stars down under did in round 12

The 2022 NRL season is now a dozen rounds old, with Penrith Panthers maintaining their four-point lead at the top of the table.

With the Rugby League World Cup heading to England this Autumn, there’s plenty of stars both young and old looking to impress head coach Shaun Wane.

Here’s how the English contingent got on over the weekend.

The Broncos came from behind to beat Gold Coast Titans 35-24 at Suncorp Stadium, scoring 31 unanswered points in the second half. Herbie Farnworth started the game in the centres and scored for a second successive week.

Farnworth also made 161 running metres and now has eight tries for the season as he continues to make a name for himself in the sunshine state.

The Raiders lost a topsy-turvy game to Parramatta 28-20 in the nation’s capital. Elliot Whitehead started the game in the back row and played the full eighty minutes, crossing over for a try in the first half.

Whitehead also ran for 51 metres and made 37 tackles, but his efforts were in vain as the Eels edged out an in-form Raiders side.

Despite an impressive performance in the Raiders win over South Sydney last week, Harry Rushton was left out of their defeat to the Eels. The Blackpool-born back rower has made three appearances this season.

Having missed out on the Raiders win over South Sydney, Ryan Sutton made his seventh appearance of the season as Canberra lost out to Parramatta.

The ex-Wigan prop came off the bench and played 36 minutes, running for a respectable 133 metres. He also made 27 tackles.

The Bulldogs miserable season continued as they were humbled 34-24 by St George Illawarra Dragons, keeping them at the foot of the table.
