Novak Djokovic news: Serbian officials respond to claims that world No 1 forged PCR certificates

The test results from Novak Djokovic’s Covid-19 certificates “are valid” with Serbia’s state prosecutors dismissing claims that the world No 1 used fake positive tests.

Rumours have been swirling around Djokovic’s PCR certificates ever since it emerged that he tested positive for Covid-19 shortly before his departure to Melbourne for the Australian Open.

Having been denied entry into the country, the Serbian challenged the decision in court and declared that he returned a positive test on December 16 before testing negative a few days later.

However, investigations done by Der Spiegel and the BBC revealed inconsistencies in the serial numbers of the test certificates issued by Serbian authorities.

And Serbia’s prosecution office received a request for criminal proceedings against unnamed individuals who allegedly forged two PCR certificates, forcing them to launch an investigation.

But after closer examination, it was found that there was nothing untoward with Djokovic’s test results.

“The prosecution acted according to the regulations, checks were performed, and it was determined that Novak Djokovic was tested several times and that the certificates on the test results from December 16, 2021 and December 22, 2021 are valid,” the statement said.
