Notts County suffer blow ahead of play-offs

Notts County have suffered a blow ahead of the National League play-offs after confirming midfielder Harry Arter's loan spell has expired.

The 32-year-old midfielder returns to his parent club, Nottingham Forest, having made nine appearances since swapping sides of the River Trent when he joined County on a short-term deal in March. Arter featured in all-but-one National League fixture during his brief spell at Meadow Lane, starting eight of his nine appearances.

The loan move to County was understood to have been until the end of the season, but he will now return to the City Ground and leave the Magpies without him for fixtures against Altrincham and Maidenhead United as well as the play-offs.

"Following initial discussions with Ian I knew I was coming into an environment I’d enjoy, but if I’m honest the club has exceeded my expectations.
