Nottingham Forest striker sends farewell message as summer transfer decision looms

Nottingham Forest striker Lyle Taylor says he is uncertain what the future holds, following the end of his loan spell at Birmingham City.

Struggling for regular game time at the City Ground, the 32-year-old spent the second half of the season with the Reds’ Championship rivals. He bagged five goals in 14 appearances for the Blues, having made the move in January.

However, with their campaign over, Taylor’s future is up in the air as the summer transfer window approaches. He still has another 12 months to run on his Forest contract, but there is a question mark over what will happen to him as changes are expected Trentside - whichever division Steve Cooper’s side find themselves in next term.

Birmingham ended their season with a 2-1 defeat at home to Blackburn Rovers on Saturday. And afterwards, the front man posted a message on social media reflecting on his time at the club.

He said on Instagram: “It’s been a great few months for me. I’ve been taken in by the #Blues fans and I can’t thank you enough for the way you’ve treated me! I don’t know what the future holds, but if this is the last time I pull on the blue shirt, just know I’ve loved it and I appreciate you all!!! Thank you #Bluenoses”

Last month, Taylor said: "I’m off to the Caribbean in the summer to play four games for Montserrat. I’ll enjoy a little bit of sun and we’ll see what’s what when I get back.

“I’ll go back to Forest for pre-season and I’m sure there will be plenty of time to have conversations between the season finishing and the next season starting, which is early this year because of the World Cup. But there’s plenty of time for those conversations to be had and to be told where I’m at and what the club want to do and what I want to do.
