Nottingham Forest prepared for summer transfer 'shocks'

Chairman Nicholas Randall QC says he is certain that clubs will look to sign Nottingham Forest's best players this summer but that these are "the problems that come with success".

The Reds' impressive rise up the Championship table has been well documented and a number of Steve Cooper's key players have been drawing interest from clubs elsewhere. Joe Worrall and Brennan Johnson have been subject to intense transfer interest from several Premier League clubs, whilst loanees James Garner and Djed Spence have also been routinely monitored by scouts.

Worrall and Johnson have both been strongly linked with moves to West Ham and Brentford respectively, Garner is expected to be more involved at parent club Manchester United, whilst Spence will likely join a top-flight club.

Forest take on Huddersfield Town in the Championship play-off final on Sunday (May 29) with a place in the Premier League reward for the victors. Should Cooper's fall short at Wembley over the weekend, the Reds squad next season will almost certainly look different to that which concludes the current season.

Mr Randall QC did not give any indication as to whether they would accept bids for their star players, but he did say that plans are in place and that they are preparing for various outcomes.
