Nottingham Forest now considering big Steve Cooper decision at City Ground

Nottingham Forest manager Steve Cooper’s job may be ‘under threat’ sooner than many would have expected, with the club already considering alternatives, according to journalist Dean Jones.

Cooper has overseen Forest’s return to the Premier League at the City Ground, as well as a hectic summer transfer window, but a poor run of form has left him under pressure.

The Reds manager was furious with his players after they were beaten 3-2 by Fulham in the East Midlands on Friday night.

In his post-match press conference, Cooper complained that his side’s problems were once again ‘self-inflicted’ and suggested they may have still been hurting after defeat to Bournemouth two weeks earlier.

In that clash at the City Ground, Forest threw away a 2-0 lead to lose 3-2 to their fellow promotion winners. After this latest loss to Marco Silva’s men, they have been left second-bottom heading into the international break.

After winning promotion via the playoffs, Forest splashed over £140 million on 22 new signings as owner Evangelos Marinakis looked to bankroll their survival.

Jones understands that the Forest manager’s future may already be hanging in the balance as we head into the break.

The journalist says that the club are already considering alternatives and are pondering how big a name they could tempt to the City Ground if they were to sack Cooper.

Jones told GIVEMESPORT: “Steve Cooper might be under threat sooner than most people would expect. I’ve heard murmurs about the club beginning to think about what they could do next, how big they could go if they did look for a new boss. I think it would be very harsh but I also think this situation is one we need to look out for after the international break.”
