Nottingham Forest linked with move for RB Salzburg striker

Nottingham Forest have been named as an interested party in Swiss forward Noah Okafor.

The 22-year-old striker missed parts of this past season due to a hamstring and toe injuries, but still found the net nine times and contributed nine assists in 21 Bundesliga appearances.

Okafor, a Swiss international, is mostly used as a central forward but has also been used on the left wing. Despite his young age, he has plenty of European experience having featured in the Champions League and Europa League for current side RB Salzburg and also FC Basel.

Okafor's impressive goal tally this season has not gone unnoticed with Newcastle United reportedly once keeping tabs. German outlet Sport 1 said in March that German sides RB Leipzig, Bayer Leverkusen and Borussia Dortmund were also interested. According to Nau.ch, Forest are joining the list of clubs taking an interest.

The 22-year-old is a composed finisher who is described as also having plenty of pace and skill.

High up on Steve Cooper's list of priorities this summer is to bring at least one new striker to the City Ground. Only Sam Surridge and Lyle Taylor are contracted to the Reds currently, while discussions are on-going with aging front-man Lewis Grabban.

Forest would like to sign Keinan Davis permanently from Aston Villa after his loan spell with the club last term; other attacking options have been identified too including Wolves forward Morgan Gibbs-White and Chelsea's Armando Broja.
