Nottingham Forest keen on buying Dean Henderson from Manchester United for £30m

Nottingham Forest are interested in permanently signing Dean Henderson from Manchester United.

It is understood Henderson, who has spent all season on loan at the City Ground, was informed of Forest's intention after they secured their Premier League status with a 1-0 win against Arsenal on Saturday.

Forest are prepared to do a deal for up to £30million for Henderson, 26, and have also indicated the salary they would be prepared to offer.

Henderson earns around £110,000-a-week at United and his wages for the season were completely covered by Forest. He is contracted to United until 2025 and the club has the option of an additional year.

The England international has not played since January 14 due to a thigh strain that required surgery two weeks ago and Henderson could be sidelined until early August.

Forest signed Keylor Navas on loan from Paris Saint-Germain in January and while the 36-year-old has been an invaluable addition he was always viewed as a short-term fix.

Retaining Henderson would provide some extra stability at Forest after they recruited 29 players across the last two transfer windows.

The prospect of regular Premier League football would appeal to Henderson as he attempts to regain his place in the England squad ahead of the European Championship in Germany next summer.

Henderson remained at Forest after he underwent surgery and he was in attendance for the defeat of Arsenal at the City Ground.

United have been indecisive over Henderson's future for a number of years and he was aggrieved that former manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer reneged on a pledge to install him as No.1 at the start of last season.
