Nottingham Forest handed transfer boost over £10m deal

Nottingham Forest transfer target Joe Aribo has reportedly turned down a new contract offer from Rangers as speculation regarding his future continues.

The Nigerian international made 57 appearances for the Scottish side last season, scoring nine goals and assisting the same amount. Aribo has been heavily linked with a move away from the Scottish Premiership side this summer, with Forest joined by Aston Villa, Southampton and Crystal Palace as interested parties.

Giovanni van Bronckhurst wants to keep his man at Ibrox next season, with his current deal due to expire in a year. The player and his representatives have so far been unable to reach an agreement in keeping the 25-year-old and talkSPORT have claimed there are no plans to stay in Scotland.

As a result of the latest update, Forest could swoop in to bring the attacking midfielder to the Premier League. The Gers reportedly want £10 million for Aribo, a significant increase in the £300,000 they paid Charlton Athletic for him in 2019.

Premier League rivals Southampton are said to be leading the race as they look to add to the signings of Gavin Bazunu, Armel Bella-Kotchap and Mateusz Lis. Steve Cooper is in the market for a new midfielder after James Garner's loan spell from Manchester United finished.
