"Not ruling out a future for him" - Journalist now drops surprise claim on £250k-p/w Man Utd ace

Manchester United forward Anthony Martial could still have a future at Old Trafford, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.

The France international hasn’t played for the Red Devils since January having spent the second half of the season on loan at Sevilla, but he could come back into the frame under Erik ten Hag.

Having fallen down the pecking order under Ralf Rangnick, which saw him play just eight minutes in his first eight league matches in charge, the 26-year-old was loaned out to increase his game-time.

Martial’s struggles continued and while he made 12 appearances for the Spanish outfit, he scored just once and laid on one assist.

He’s now back at Old Trafford ahead of next season and will be hoping to impress Ten Hag in pre-season and win a place in the Dutchman’s squad.

The £250,000 per-week forward’s case to become part of the future again at United should be helped by the departures of Jesse Lingard and Edinson Cavani, although Anthony Elanga has since broken into the first-team, so Martial might have his work cut out.

But with two years remaining on his United contract and a proven record of 79 goals in red, Jones reckons he could be part of Ten Hag’s plans.

He told GIVEMESPORT: “They’ll look through the squad from last season and think, Cristiano Ronaldo, top goalscorer, fine, he can do that again, Marcus Rashford has to get better. Anthony Martial, I’m not ruling out a future for him, he can get better.

“Jadon Sancho, Elanga, they’re all really good options who didn’t fulfil their potential last season.”
