Not heading to the Simola Hillclimb this year? Don't miss out, watch it on TV or online

Spectators are allowed back at the 2022 Simola Hillclimb, but in limited numbers. But, you don't have to miss out and can watch the live event from the comfort of your couch.

The 12th edition of the Simola Hillclimb will take place in Knysna this weekend, running from 6-8 May. The event has become known as one of the premier events on the South African motorsport calendar and sees both local and international competitors putting their skills to the test.

The event partnered with the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) to stream the event to reach a larger audience. In addition to the event's dedicated livestream platforms, the aim is to reach a greater audience and make the event accessible to eager fans who cannot attend.

Ian Shrosbree, MD of Knysna Speed Festival, the owner of the Simola Hillclimb, says: "We know that a lot of people who would have liked to attend the 2022 Simola Hillclimb weren't able to get tickets due to the limited spectator numbers based on the Covid-19 restrictions. "We also have thousands of enthusiasts in South Africa and around the world that follow this event online each year, so the live crossings on SABC and the full livestream are essential outlets for us to engage with a wider audience.

"This is our second year with SABC as our free-to-air national broadcast partner through to 2024, which allows us to reach a broader spectrum of sports fans. "Our livestream numbers are also growing significantly each year. In 2021 we had 178 065 views of the livestream and a total of 2 155 073 minutes viewed, which further reinforces the Simola Hillclimb's status as one of South Africa's premier motoring and motorsport lifestyle events."
