Not for sale - Eddie Howe calmly denies Dubravka to Man United talk and issues message on Saint-Maximin

Eddie Howe insists Newcastle United have no intention of selling their best players and has calmly denied suggestions Martin Dubravka was offered to Manchester United on deadline day.

The Newcastle boss also feels that Allan Saint-Maximin can achieve all of his career goals on Tyneside with the club's new policy a far cry from the days of Mike Ashley when the best talents, including a young Andy Carroll, Yohan Cabaye and Demba Ba, were all sold to more ambitious clubs.

Dubravka was linked with a swap deal with Dean Henderson on the eve of deadline day but Howe, who played down interest in the Old Trafford back-up man last week, now wanted to make it clear to concerned supporters that the Slovakia star was also going nowhere.

Speaking at his Press conference today, Howe said: "There was absolutely no truth in Martin Dubravka being offered to Manchester United from our side.

"That is - absolutely - not the truth."

Saint-Maximin has been linked with both Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur in the last 12 months but Newcastle's emergence as a team prepared to invest means his best chance of Champions League action and silverware could be here at United in the years to come.

The winger was excellent against Everton, and Howe is keen to see more of it moving forward.

When asked about his future, Howe said: "There is no intention to lose Maxi.

"No indication thet is head is anywhere but Newcastle and elevating us out of the difficulties we are in.

“He loves playing at St James’ Park and is idolised by the fans. It is key we help improve him.

"Find an edge to make his game better and he will enjoy a great career and be here many years."
