Norwich investigating Man Utd loanee Brandon Williams over Instagram post after 4-0 defeat

Norwich City are investigating an Instagram post put up by on loan Manchester United star Brandon Williams.

The Canaries will be playing their football in the Championship next season and were beaten 4-0 by West Ham United on Sunday. Williams has been one of their more successful performers and started in the Carrow Road defeat. However a social media post could land him in hot water, Mirror Football understands.

He uploaded a picture of himself putting up his middle fingers alongside the caption: “What a beautiful day. Easy up Norwich City”. Williams also added another post of his dog which included the words: “For the people that followed me, he's always awake” amid suggestions the player was followed after the game.

Williams headed to Suffolk in the summer as he sought more minutes having been pushed down the pecking order in Manchester. He's been able to establish himself as first choice left-back under Dean Smith and supporters recently unveiled a banner calling for the 21-year-old to stay at the club.

Norwich have suffered a second relegation in three seasons having failed to survive under Daniel Farke in the 2019/20 season. They struggled from early on and have never looked like mounting a survival charge despite a managerial change this term. The club have continued to yo-yo between the top two tiers of English football.

Around 200 fans protested outside the director's entrance of the City Stand at Carrow Road to make their feelings known about the club's ownership and sporting director Stuart Webber's future. Norwich haven't invested like some of their rivals following promotion. Back in the summer they sold star man Emi Buendia for over £30m.
