Norwich City left-back Sean Stewart given chance to impress Ian Baraclough at NI training camp

Norwich City teenager Sean Stewart has been given the chance to impress Ian Baraclough after being called up to Northern Ireland’s senior training camp in England this week.

Stewart, who specialises as a left-back, has featured for the Norfolk club’s U18 and U23 teams since making the move to Carrow Road in the summer of 2019.

The 19-year-old, who began his football journey with St Oliver Plunkett FC in Belfast, signed his first professional contract with Norwich last year.

And senior boss Baraclough is keen to expose Stewart to the senior set-up as part of a four-day camp at St George’s Park in Staffordshire.

The talented defender was spotted by the Canaries while playing for Northern Ireland U16s and he has also represented Northern Ireland at U17 and U21 level.

When asked to describe his playing style last year, Stewart said: “I’m like an attacking wing-back. First and foremost I defend, but I also love to get forward.”

Northern Ireland boss Baraclough is using this week’s camp to assess the fitness levels of regular squad members and give several underage players a taste of the senior set-up.

He said: “It will enable the younger players to showcase what they’re all about and increase their experience of international football with the senior team coaches and players.”
