Nominations open for 2024 Stewartry Sports Awards ahead of Castle Douglas ceremony

Today we open the nominations for this year’s Stewartry Sports Awards.

Stewartry Sports Council are making plans for this year’s ceremony at Castle Douglas Golf Club on Friday, November 15. It has been another great year for the district with sportsmen and women, coaches, clubs and teams all performing magnificently.

And the sports council is now seeking nominations for this year’s awards.

All entries will be considered by the expert panel of judges and the winners will be announced at the awards night, with everyone welcome to attend the ceremony.

Local businesses are keen to see sportspeople recognised through their continued sponsorship of the awards and the sports council is grateful to them for their continued support.

This year’s categories are:

•Sports Personality of the Year, sponsored by the Galloway News: This category is open to any person living in, or originally from, the Stewartry who has achieved success at local, national or international level.

• Junior Sports Personality of the Year, sponsored by the The Co-operative: This award is open to anyone under the age of 18 who is living in the Stewartry.

• Team of the Year, sponsored by BSW Timber, Dalbeattie: This award is open to any team that plays in or represents the Stewartry in any sport and any age level.

• Club of the Year, sponsored by Sulwath Brewery: This award is open to any sports club based in or representing the
Stewartry.

• Coach/Administrator of the Year, sponsored by Dalbeattie Garden Centre: This prize is open to someone who has shown dedication or success in coaching or providing the administrative back-up to a club or individual in the past year.

• Outstanding Achievement at Club Level: This is open to teams or
