'No pryo, no party!' - Manchester United's fans loved cancelling Man City's 2018 title party

Sunday's trip to the Etihad Stadium will no doubt evoke fond memories for Manchester United's supporters from the time that they forced Manchester City to put their Premier League title celebrations on hold.

Travelling to the Etihad for the latest chapter in the history of the Manchester derby in April 2018, United knew that a win for City would see them secure their third Premier League title. What followed, however, was a Manchester derby classic.

City found themselves 2-0 up at half-time, thanks to quick-fire goals from Vincent Kompany and Ilkay Gundogan, meaning the champagne bottles were being prepped. However, United had different ideas, staging a dramatic second-half comeback, inspired by an infamous Jose Mourinho team talk.

Goals from Paul Pogba (2) and Chris Smalling sealed a sensational comeback for the Reds, earning them all three points and the derby day bragging rights. It also forced City to put their celebrations on hold.

The Silverback Event Crew posted a picture on Facebook, which was later deleted, showing the company setting up pyrotechnics on the roof of the Etihad in anticipation of a party atmosphere following the final shrill of referee Martin Atkinson's whistle. However, the firework display was cancelled once Smalling netted the Reds' third goal of the contest to seal the points.

As expected, United's supporters loved nothing more than putting City's title celebrations on hold, even if it was already obvious that they were going to win the league. With that in mind, almost four years on, MEN Sport has taken a close look at how some United supporters reacted that day.
