There is no Super Eagles player on the list as the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Technical Study Group unveiled the best XI from the group stage at the ongoing tournament.

According to the list of the players made available on CAF social media pages in a 4-3-3 formation, Equatorial Guinea goalkeeper Jesus Owono was named as the best goalkeeper at the group stage.

The Spain-based goalkeeper was named the Man of the Match award in his country’s 1-1 draw against Super Eagles of Nigeria.

Achraf Hakimi and Nayef Aguerd of Morroco, Kalidou Koulibaly of Senegal and Congo DR left-back Arthur Masuaku have been named as the best defenders in their different positions.

The midfielders are Lamine Camera of Senegal, Sofiat Amrabat and Azzedine Ounahi of Morroco while the tournament’s top scorer with five goals, Emiliano Nsue of Equatorial Guinea, Ismail Saar of Senegal, and Gelson Dala of Angola completes the line-up of the best eleven.

The knockout stage of the tournament begins today with Nigeria facing the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon.

The Nigeria v Cameroon match will be played at 9 pm on StarTimes’ Sports Life and Sports Premium channels, dedicated channels for all AFCON 2023 matches.
