No. 1 Iga Swiatek tops Ons Jabeur in women's US Open final to win third major title
Iga Swiatek won her third major title on Saturday, beating Ons Jabeur in straight sets in the US Open women's final.
The 21-year-old from Poland is only a few months removed from winning her second French Open, one of her six titles in 2022. She is the seventh woman in the Open Era to start 3-0 or better in major finals.
Jabeur, the No. 5 seed from Tunisia, had been aiming to become the first African woman to win a Grand Slam event in the professional era, which began in 1968. Jabeur had lost only one set in the tournament before Saturday's match.
