Nketiah dodges Arsenal future question: ‘Any player wants to be playing and have opportunities’

English striker Eddie Nketiah refused to discuss his Arsenal future after he scored a brace to help his side beat Leeds United 2-0 at the Emirates.

The striker’s career at Arsenal has had a resurgence in recent weeks. He has started their last five Premier League games.

Nketiah scored twice as Arsenal beat Chelsea 4-2 at Stamford Bridge last month. He also played the full 90 minutes as the Gunners beat Man Utd and West Ham.

The 22-year-old came up against his former club on Sunday as Mikel Arteta’s side welcomed Leeds United to the Emirates. He was on loan at the West Yorkshire side in 2019/20.

Arsenal were able to beat 10-man Leeds 2-0 thanks to a brace from Nketiah. Both of his goals came inside the opening ten minutes.

Despite his recent form, Nketiah may end up leaving Arsenal this summer. His current contract is set to expire in June.

Speaking on the win over Leeds, the forward suggested that he is “just happy to be in the team”:

“It’s amazing, it’s always nice to score, but I think it’s a big three points, like I said before the game,” Nketiah told Sky Sports.

“We’ve been working hard and we want to do it for the fans.

“It’s amazing to be able to get the three points and it moves us closer to our objective.
