Nigerian girls’ basketball team battles Kenya, Algeria, two others in test games
Excited by the development, the Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC) said the invitation came from the Local Organising Committee (LOC) of the 2026 Youth Olympic Games.
A statement released by NOC’s Public Relations Officer, Tony Nezianya, explained that the tournament would provide invaluable experience and exposure to the young athletes, equipping them with insights into the standards and expectations they will face during the Games.
Nezianya said the NOC “will cover all expenses related to the tournament, ensuring that our talented athletes can focus on their preparation.
“The event, aptly titled the “Festival of Games,” is scheduled for November 6 to 10, 2026, in Dakar. We extend our best wishes to the U-16 basketball team as they embark on this exciting journey.
“We are confident that their participation in this tournament will bolster their skills and inspire them to shine at the Youth Olympic Games.”
