Nigel Pearson provides Bristol City injury update ahead of West Brom clash
Nigel Pearson has revealed to Bristol Live that Alex Scott has been training today, with Bristol City preparing for Saturday’s clash with West Brom.
The 18-year-old rolled his ankle and was forced off in the first half against Barnsley, however, he is likely to be available for selection come Saturday.
However, the Robins will be without Joe Williams at the weekend – the man who replaced the young midfielder – with the 25-year-old being suffering yet another hamstring injury against the Tykes.
Providing an injury update to Bristol Live ahead of Saturday’s clash with the Baggies, Pearson said: “Alex always gets something during the game, it’s just the way he plays but he’s ok. He’ll be training with us today.
“Joe will be missing for two or three weeks which is good because it’s not as bad as last time. We always know there is a risk with players who have had previous hamstring injuries – that’s why he was left out of the starting 11 – but unfortunately he went on and got injured. At least it’s not going to be a long-term situation for Joe and I’m really pleased for him about that.”
The verdict
Scott’s progression at Bristol City has been excellent to see this season, with the 18-year-old catching the attention of the wider footballing world with his consistent performances.
He has grown to become such an important part of Pearson’s side over the course of this season, playing with great maturity and confidence.
Williams has been very unfortunate this season, with yet another hamstring injury set to disrupt his progression in a Bristol City shirt.
However, the good news is that the injury is not as bad as first anticipated, and with the international fast-approaching, it means that Williams could be back available
