Nienaber looks forward to end-of-year tour after failed Rugby Championship assault

Springbok coach Jacques Nienaber said the end-of-year tour would provide necessary answers for them ahead of their World Cup defence next year.

Their failed attempt at annexing the Rugby Championship from the All Blacks has also left Nienaber with several pressing questions his team needs to answer when they face Ireland, France, Italy, and England on consecutive November weekends.

They didn't win the Rugby Championship despite starting the tournament well is a source of concern for Nienaber.

We're not there yet and we need consistency. I think we'll get a pretty good idea at the end of year tour," Nienaber said.

"We've got the number one and number two teams in the world, along with the SA A side, so it'll be a challenging tour for us.

"We'll have nice answers after the end-of-year tour as we head into the World Cup year. I don't want to hop onto the train of looking for answers all the time."

Nienaber also rued the lack of killer instinct his team showed in the tournament. When they've had a half-time lead, they've gone on to win the game.

However, they haven't done so with the ruthlessness and surgical precision that's befitting of World Champions.
