Nick Walsh gets Rangers red card amid Hotline fury as Mohamed Diomande cock-up sparks angry backlash

Mohamed Diomande is back in the game after getting his Tannadice sending off thrown in the bin.

But as Celtic geared up for Champions League action against Aston Villa, raging Rangers fans on the Hotline want whistler Nick Walsh to be shown the red card. Alan Milligan, via email, said: “Now that it has been proved that he is incompetent, Nick Walsh should be demoted to the amateur ranks to learn his trade.”

Stuart McLeod, Stepps, said: “After another shambles surrounding Diomande's red card being rescinded and probably another disingenuous apology on the way, the SFA should be looking closer to home. The SFA were out within an hour of the match finishing with a statement backing Nick Walsh. Can anyone tell me when a statement has been released before the appeal process has been heard? A clear effort was being made to prejudice the case. Not fit for purpose, found out time and again yet somehow still hold office.”

Robert Forrest emailed “Another ridiculous decision against Rangers Perhaps one the resident Celtic men on the Hotline could tell us the last bad decision went against their team. I should add I am only 77 years old so I may have missed it.”

Scott McAdam, Glasgow, said: “Rangers have a right cheek. Diomande had this coming for weeks. In two games against Celtic, all he did was kick and elbow his way through it. So it's long before time the shoe is on the other foot.”

Celtic have brought back Jota and have lined up Kieran Tierney, but Gers fan Alan Flett said: “It's years of Rangers' failure and a league full of dross that's got you lot to where you are, not you biscuit tin transfer policy.
