NFL: Throwback to Larry Fitzgerald's first touchdown to honour his 39th birthday
Arizona Cardinals legend Larry Fitzgerald showed us exactly what we were in for when he score his first touchdown in the NFL back in 2004.
There have been some great wide receivers in the history of the National Football League; from Jerry Rice and Randy Moss to Cris Carter and Calvin Johnson. However, when it comes to players who went under the radar for a large part of their career, you could make the argument that nobody achieved more with less fanfare than Larry Fitzgerald.
Spending his entire career with the Arizona Cardinals, he didn’t have the greatest of teams around him a lot of the time, and as a result he only got to experience five winning seasons during his entire tenure in the National Football League before his retirement after the 2020 NFL season.
But whilst the team around him might not have had much of a success, it certainly wasn’t through any fault of his own, as he was able to put up some incredible numbers during his 17-year career.
During his time in the NFL, Fitzgerald was able to put up 17,492 receiving yards in the regular season, which is the 2nd most of any player all-time behind only Jerry Rice who had 22,895, and 121 touchdowns which ranks 6th all-time and 1,432 receptions, which also ranks 2nd all-time, numbers that pretty much guarantee his place in the Hall of Fame:
Crazy but true… Larry Fitzgerald has more career tackles than career drops
