NFL legend Jerry Rice thinks USC quarterback Caleb Williams is worthy of hype: ‘Without a doubt’

Following in the footsteps of the greatest wide receiver to ever play the game is no easy task, but that’s the path that USC senior wide receiver Brenden Rice chose to take. 

After two seasons in Boulder with the Colorado Buffaloes, Jerry Rice’s son transferred to USC in 2022 to play for Lincoln Riley, who quickly added quarterback Caleb Williams to the roster after coaching him for one season at Oklahoma.

Through eight games of the 2023 college football season, Rice has 28 catches for 486 and eight touchdowns, which leads the team. 

"As a parent, you just sit back, and you try to be supportive," Jerry Rice told Fox News Digital when asked about his son following in his footsteps on the football field.

"He’s always bragging to me about being bigger, faster and all of that," he continued. "So, I have to hear that all the time, but he’s actually bigger and faster than me when I played the game. Just going there, supporting him, being there in the stands and watching him perform on the football field is really exciting. It’s one of those things where I knew that if he should follow in my footsteps, the pressure that would be put on him, and he was willing to take that on. And I think he’s doing a fantastic job."
