Neymar was brilliantly psyched out for PSG penalty worse than Nantes clanger in 2021
Neymar didn’t exactly cover himself in glory during Paris Saint-Germain’s defeat to Nantes at the weekend.
The Brazilian might have scored PSG’s only goal on the night in what proved to be just their second Ligue 1 defeat of the season, but he spurned the opportunity that could have sparked a comeback.
That’s because Neymar assumed responsibilities as PSG’s penalty taker when they were awarded a spot-kick at the Beaujoire Stadium on the back of Lionel Messi‘s miss against Real Madrid.
Finding the net from 12 yards would have given Neymar a quick-fire brace from which Mauricio Pochettino’s men could have turned things around having shipped three goals in the first-half.
However, despite undoubtedly being one of the world’s best penalty takers, Neymar couldn’t double his money on this occasion as he produced one of the most tepid spot-kicks we’ve seen all season.
The 30-year-old was left with egg on his face as he watched his tame and central strike simply roll into the hands of Alban Lafont in a manner that looked as though he’d simply passed it to the goalkeeper.
