Neymar responds to being booed by PSG fans after latest brutal snub

Neymar has explained how he is dealing with the constant boos and jeers from his own supporters as a mixed season for both the Brazilian and Paris Saint-Germain as a whole nears its end.

The world's most expensive player has fallen out of favour with the PSG support who have made their feelings towards him abundantly clear ever since the club were eliminated from the Champions League earlier this season. Despite the fact the Parisians won the league, much more was expected of them - especially after Lionel Messi's arrival last summer.

However, the Brazil international has finally issued an update of his own on how he is coping with the relentless taunting from his own fans and mentioned how the problem is only worsened by social media.

"Of course nobody wants to be booed, even more if you're playing at home," Neymar told Flamengo player Diego Ribas in a live discussion. "It's sad, but I had to find strength somewhere.

"I remembered all people who helped me get to where I am now, and I try to play for them. I can't let myself be affected by boos and let my family down. There are matches when you can play for the fans, when everything's alright. Then there's booing, and I hold myself to my family.

"Social media...I guess it hurts more than it helps. Because if you play well and go read about it there, it's all good news and smiles. But when you don't play well, it's not good for your head. If there's nobody to help you overcome these times, it's pretty tough. Social media is a very dangerous thing nowadays."

Neymar's season went from bad to worse earlier this month when his name was not on the list of nominations for Ligue 1's Player of the Season award.
