Next Manchester United manager needs to finally solve £120million problem

One of the few positives for Manchester United this season has been the success of Jadon Sancho, who is now living up to his billing as one of the hottest young talents in world football after a tricky start to life back in England.

Sancho was hard done by in the opening few months of his time at Old Trafford because of two factors. Firstly, he wasn't viewed as an overseas import because of his nationality, when in fact he needed time to settle into the Premier League following his time in Germany. Second, was that because of his stellar career so far, Sancho also wasn't treated like many other 21-year-olds, with expectations ramped up on him to hit the ground running at a club as turbulent as United.

It is also quite clear that Sancho is a player who thrives off confidence, and oddly enough, he didn't seem to have the full backing of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. The Norwegian had identified the winger as a long-term target but didn't actually seem to know how to use him properly, an inconsistent approach that contributed to his sluggish start.

In contrast, the English forward is now thriving under the guidance of Ralf Rangnick, another long-term admirer who tried to sign him for RB Leipzig, and has been one of the best performers in the Premier League this calendar year since being given regular backing.

It also speaks volumes of Sancho's success that his absence from the England squad for the current international break was nothing short of scandalous, though a two-week recharge might well work to United's advantage if they are to salvage a disappointing season with Champions League qualification.
