Manchester United manager Ralf Rangnick confirms he has delivered verdict on squad

Ralf Rangnick has presented his findings from managing the Manchester United squad to the club's hierarchy as they prepare to appoint Erik ten Hag as their next manager.

Interim manager Rangnick is due to start a consultancy role on July 1st and stressed a 'squad rebuild' is required after United's fifth consecutive trophyless season. Ten Hag is expected to become the next United manager, with the club progressing on terms for the Ajax coach, and Rangnick is open to speaking with his replacement once his appointment is confirmed.

Rangnick acknowledged his judgement on players' futures was not final as it was also dependent on the next manager's plans for those whose futures are uncertain.

"I have already done this, not to any managers, but inside the club," Rangnick said. "I have told them how I see the current squad and what needs to happen, in my opinion.

"The rest I cannot answer right now because it also depends on the new manager. If he is interested and willing to speak about that and interested in my opinion I will need to wait and see what happens.

"No, I haven’t [presented written findings] on a piece of paper or in writing, but we spoke regularly with board members and they know what I think needs to happen in the summer.

"This is the press conference for the Everton game and If that happens, if the new manager has been announced, then if he wants to get my advice then I am more than happy to speak to the new manager about that.

"But right now it will be something in private and internally that we need to discuss and this is nothing that I want to speak about here in the press conference before the Everton game."
