Next Generation Football Academy based in Folkestone to hold family-friendly fundraising event at Three Hills Sports Club to raise funds for Costa Daurada International Youth Tournament in Spain

Footballers from a Folkestone-based Academy are preparing for a fundraising day to support their plans to compete at an international youth tournament in Spain.

The Next Generation Football Academy are heading to the Costa Daurada International Youth Tournament where teams from across Europe will compete and, for many Next Generation players, it will be their first time travelling abroad.

To help make the trip possible, the Academy will hold a family-friendly fundraising event at Three Hills Sports Club on Friday, February 20.

Activities will run throughout the day and include an eight-hour football match, raffles, mini games, an EA Sports video game tournament, a cake sale and plenty more activities for all ages.

Harry Nunn, the founder and head coach of the Next Generation Football Academy, places huge emphasis on confidence, teamwork and creating positive opportunities for young players through sport.

“This trip means everything to the players,” Nunn said.

“For some of them, it will be their first time leaving the country - let alone representing Folkestone at an international tournament!

“The fundraising day is about showing them that their community is behind them.”

All funds raised will go directly to travel, accommodation and tournament costs, helping to ensure as many players as possible can take part, regardless of their background - with the event in Salou, Catalonia, from March 29 until April 2.

The Next Generation Football Academy will have two mixed under-11 teams, alongside mixed under-12 and under-10 sides, involved at the tournament.

They are also looking for parent and community volunteers to help on the fundraising day.
