Newcastle: Update reveals one player Magpies 'will definitely sign'

Newcastle will definitely sign a goalkeeper this summer, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.

Having failed to add another keeper to his squad in January, Eddie Howe remains in the market ahead of the summer window.

Newcastle’s first choice shotstopper is Martin Dubravka, who’s played every minute in the Premier League since winning his place back in the side during the festive period.

Freddie Woodman and Karl Darlow had shared the workload up to then, although the former suffered a hip injury after just four games and lost his place before joining Bournemouth on loan in January, while the latter eventually lost his place to Dubravka after Newcastle failed to win or keep a clean sheet in any of the eight games that he started this season.

Dubravka, who’s been Newcastle’s number one goalkeeper for the best part of four years, is clearly first choice at the moment, although Howe’s push to sign another stopper in January made his feelings clear about strengthening going forward.

Newcastle were heavily linked with Dean Henderson, who’s not played in the league all season, although Manchester United weren’t willing to let him leave and he therefore stayed at Old Trafford.

Regardless, Jones still reckons that another keeper is firmly on Howe’s wish list in the upcoming window.

He told GIVEMESPORT: “Newcastle will definitely sign a goalkeeper this summer.”
