Newcastle United linked Scotland international Aaron Hickey addresses transfer interest rumours

Scotland full-back Aaron Hickey is paying no attention to the rumours around his future amid speculation linking him with a move to the Premier League.

Newcastle United, Arsenal and West Ham United are said to be admirers of the 19-year-old full-back who is comfortable playing at both left-back and right-back.

Originally hailing from Glasgow, Hickey made his professional debut for Hearts in 2019. A promising breakthrough season followed, which resulted in a summer 2020 move to Serie A side Bologna.

Since making the switch to Italy, Hickey has flourished. This season has seen him make his international debut for Scotland, with big things expected of the teenage full-back.

But despite the interest and hype surrounding his future, Hickey is choosing to keep his head down and focussed on improving his craft.

“I just look at it and keep my head down,” said Hickey. “Wherever I am I just focus on what I’m doing.”

“Things have gone well at Bologna. I think I’ve had a good season there. Since going to Italy I feel like I’ve improved different parts of my game.

“It’s a top experience for me to go to a different country, a different culture and a different way of playing football.

“They spend a lot of time in training, basically every day, looking at tactically where you should be, body shape, that sort of thing. The manager and the coaching staff have really helped me with that.

"Talking about it, walking through it in training, even watching videos on where to be."
