Newcastle United legend Alan Shearer's whirlwind emotions during 'magnificent' Man City draw

Newcastle United legend Alan Shearer revealed his emotions during Manchester City's thrilling 3-3 Premier League draw at St James' Park on Sunday.

Pep Guardiola's side battled back from being 3-1 down to take a point against Newcastle, as City showed their resilience. Eddie Howe's side represented the first real test for the Blues this season and despite not winning the match, the club kept their unbeaten start to the season in a hostile atmosphere.

Ilkay Gundogan got the Blues off to the perfect start as he scored after just five minutes to give City the lead. Things quickly changed as Newcastle went on to score three goals in-a-row as the home fans sensed they had a genuine chance to beat the reigning champions, turning the volume up inside the stadium.

However, quick-fire goals from Erling Haaland and Bernardo Silva after the hour mark saw City score two goals in four minutes to bring the score level at 3-3. Guardiola's side had just under half an hour left to find a winner and arguably should have been playing against 10-men for the final 15 minutes.

Kieran Trippier was shown a straight red card for a knee-high tackle on Kevin de Bruyne. The midfielder was thankfully unhurt by the challenge and immediately got up to shove Trippier in anger.

Moments later however, referee Jarred Gillett was sent to the monitor as VAR instructed the official to have a look at the challenge again. Subsequently, the decision was downgraded as the red card was rescinded, with the Newcastle defender receiving a yellow card instead.
