Newcastle United left bemused by FA ruling as star is hit with £19,000 fine

Newcastle United have been left bemused by the FA's actions after Isaac Hayden was hit with a fine of £19,000. Having failed to get any reasonable explanation over the performance of officials David Coote and John Brooks, the only activity that followed the Stamford Bridge farce was correspondence on Hayden's social media post after the game.

Hayden posted: 'Some performance against 12 men today', after Kai Havertz did not get sent off for elbowing Dan Burn and Jacob Murphy was denied a clear penalty after being hauled down in the box. Despite the lack of response on the incidents in the game, Newcastle received news on Tuesday that Hayden had been slapped with a huge fine.

The FA decided via an independent regulatory commission hearing deemed the comments in breach of FA Rule E3.1 for attacking the integrity of the match official. Eddie Howe is certain to be asked about the incident at his Press conference on Friday.

Howe had said in December: "All we’re asking for is some clarity on the decisions and how the officials have come to those decisions." But after another series of refereeing blunders, Hayden's huge fine now only adds insult to injury for the Magpies.
