Newcastle United learn provisional dates for TV selections as Premier League make announcements

The provisional dates for when announcements on matches selected for TV coverage will be made has been confirmed by the Premier League today. Selections for the opening day fixtures are already in, with Newcastle United’s home clash against newly promoted Nottingham Forest not having been chosen.

The Magpies are expected to learn whether any of their games in the opening two months of the season are chosen on July 5. Clashes with Manchester City and Liverpool are the eye-catching fixtures of Newcastle’s opening five matches, and it wouldn’t be a surprise to see both of them given the nod.

Other important provisional dates include October 11 – which will be the announcement of Newcastle’s Christmas and New Year period, as well as March 23/30, April 7 and post match week 37, which will when TV coverage is announced for the final four matches of the season. A home clash with Arsenal and trip to Chelsea make up two of Newcastle’s last four.

Of course, though, as it stands these dates should be taken with a pinch of salt, as the Premier League often announce broadcast selections later than the ones provisionally set out today. They have already confirmed that these are subject to change, with domestic and European cup competitions the main reason behind this.

Having said that, here is a full list of the dates that the Premier League have confirmed.
