Newcastle United issued Everton warning as Frank Lampard's instant impact hailed

Leon Osman has warned Newcastle United that Everton could be a completely different proposition under Frank Lampard ahead of the two sides' meeting at St James' Park.

This is after the Toffees' 4-1 win over Brentford in Lampard's first game in charge, with Yerry Mina, Richarlison, Mason Holgate and Andros Townsend all finding the net.

It was a much-improved performance from Everton as they cruised into the fifth-round of the FA Cup, scoring four goals for the first time in 42 matches.

The Toffees will also be looking to make it back-to-back victories for the first time since September when they make the trip to Newcastle for what is a pivotal game towards the bottom of the Premier League.

However, Osman has warned Newcastle that Lampard has made some pretty significant changes in such a short space of time after being appointed as the club's new manager on deadline day.

Speaking on BBC Match of the Day: "The thought of us scoring four goals a couple of weeks back was non-existent, to see the change in such a short space of time.

"To see the energy the team showed today, to see the energy they showed without the ball was a real refreshing change. I hope it continues.

"It was mainly the way they were prepared to run without the ball. We highlight the front three because they were such a vital part of the win.

"Those three were never far away from each-other and look at the speed they were playing at, the tempo and desire they were showing.

"We haven't seen that enough. Everton were a threat all afternoon and if that's a change Frank Lampard can make in a short space of time then I'm optimisic."

Former Liverpool midfielder Danny Murphy added: "There was a freedom, players were playing with more confidence behind them.
