Newcastle United are finally thought to have agreed a deal with French club Lille for the services of their young Dutch defender, Sven Botman. Various journalists and news media outlets are reporting that a €37 million offer has been accepted, with personal terms not posing any issues. Reports also suggest that Botman will have his medical next week before being unveiled as a Newcastle player.

This marks another significant signing under Newcastle's new ownership, with the Magpies fending off competition from Italian champions AC Milan to acquire the highly-rated Dutchman. Newcastle had initially wanted Botman in January, but were not willing to meet the asking price set by Lille then, and instead brought in Dan Burn from Brighton.

Now it appears they have finally got their man, and can begin searching for new recruits in other positions on the field.
