Newcastle United headlines as Ryan Fraser heaps praise on 'unbelievable' Eddie Howe after Brentford win

Newcastle United winger Ryan Fraser has praised Eddie Howe for the impact he's had at St James' Park after he guided his side to a fourth win in five matches at Brentford.

Goals from Joelinton and Joe Willock secured a 2-0 success for the Magpies, who have now moved four points of the relegation zone with an impressive victory.

Fraser has been rejuvinated since Howe's arrival to the club and he believes that there has been a massive change to the team spirit around the changing room.

Speaking on Match of the Day, Fraser said: "It’s been unbelievable. There was a lot of talk when I left Bournemouth, but we’ve always kept a really good relationship and the type of manager and person he is – he’s came in and changed everything.

"Philosophy, togetherness, team spirit – every little thing you can think of he’s came in and changed – to walking into the training ground and seeing things up on the wall that inspire you in the morning.

"Honesty, I could keep you here for days to tell you what he’s changed and it’s been absolutely brilliant. And the lads have taken to it and not looked back really."

Eddie Howe has spoken of Allan Saint-Maximin's fitness levels after he missed the 2-0 win at Brentford.

The winger has been in Monaco getting treatment on a calf injury and has now missed the last two fixtures against West Ham and the Bees on Saturday.

United have managed to pick up four points without Saint-Maximin but if fit Howe has a major dilemma given the Frenchman's star quality.

When asked about Saint-Maximin's fitness, Howe said: "He was some way short. We hoped Allan would make it, but he was some way short in the end.
