Newcastle United goalkeeper Freddie Woodman agrees move to Preston North End in principle
Newcastle United have agreed a deal with Preston North End to move Freddie Woodman to Deepdale. The former England Under-21 stopper spent last season on loan at AFC Bournemouth but the newly promoted side only used Woodman in the FA Cup.
The goalie is set to have a medical next week after agreeing a deal that could become permanent.
Woodman is once again in need of regular first-team action after starting last season between the posts for Newcastle due to an illness and injury crisis in the goalie department.
The 25-year-old will team up with ambitious North End boss Ryan Lowe who is building an exciting project at the Championship club. Indeed, Lowe is vying to take the team to the promised land of the top-flight with a play-off tilt.
Preston have sold 10,000 season tickets so far - their most in over 50 years and there is excitement on the streets of the Lancashire city.
