Newcastle United 0-0 Mainz first-half player ratings as Sven Botman shines on first start
Newcastle United are taking on Mainz in their final friendly of their summer pre-season tour of Austria.
Following on from Friday's 3-0 win over 1860 Munich, the Magpies have stepped it up against Bundesliga opposition this afternoon but neither side were able to break the deadlock in the first half.
Here's how Lee Ryder has rated the Newcastle United players.
Some stunning saves to keep Mainz 05 at bay.
Some good runs forward and unfortunate with a free-kick attempt.
Has formed good partnership with Botman.
Unflappable on his preferred left-hand side. Ice cool amid scorching temperatures. Some effective balls into the final third.
Taken off after half an hour in pre-arranged substitution.
Struggled to make an impact.
Tried to pick holes in German side's defence.
An imposing presence in midfield and made some fine clearances.
Hasn't had much impact down the left.
Has battled hard enough in the heat.
Sent one effort high over the bar. Needs pre-season goals to stay in mind of Howe.
Slotted in at left-back in change after half an hour.
