Newcastle told to ‘go crazy and make super offer’ if they want CB

Newcastle United have been told it will now take a ‘super offer’ if they want to sign Sevilla defender Diego Carlos in January, according to reports.

Kieran Trippier has joined from Atletico Madrid this month, while they have also bought Chris Wood from Burnley as they look to revamp their struggling squad.

However, those aren’t the only areas under consideration with goalkeepers, centre-backs, left-backs, midfielders and forwards all linked with potential moves.

One player who has been linked more than most is Sevilla centre-back Carlos, who Newcastle have been pursuing since they were knocked back by Lille for their Dutch defender Sven Botman.

The Brazilian has seemed more receptive to others about joining Newcastle with the Magpies embroiled in a relegation battle and it has been down the Premier League club to agree a fee with Sevilla.

That has proved the tricky bit with Guillem Balague yesterday claiming that the Spanish side ‘considers the negotiations’ with Newcastle ‘over’ after negotiations about Carlos ‘broke down’.

However, local newspaper ABC Sevilla (via Sport Witness) don’t see it that way, although they do think any deal will be tricky, with Newcastle set to ‘go all out’ and ‘decide to break the market’.

And it is understood that Sevilla have told Carlos’ representatives that the only way the Geordies can sign the Brazilian is if they ‘go crazy and make a super offer’.

It is possible that the La Liga outfit will allow Carlos to leave for a ‘great offer’ but ‘everything is in the hands’ of the Mapgies.
