Newcastle 'set to offer swap' to seal Dean Henderson transfer and more Man United rumours

Newcastle United will offer Karl Darlow to Manchester United in a bid to secure the signing of Dean Henderson, according to reports.

The Manchester Evening News understands that the United goalkeeper is closing in on a move to the Magpies, with Henderson in Newcastle last Wednesday for talks. The MEN reported last week that discussions have been held over a season-long loan, though a permanent switch has yet to be ruled out.

Henderson has endured a frustrating season in which his playing opportunities have been severely limited due to the resurgent form of David de Gea, finishing the campaign with just three appearances to his name with none coming in the Premier League. Darlow is Newcastle's back-up and played eight times in the league last season, and it's reported that Newcastle hope the offer of a swap will help get the signing of Henderson over the line as United's options in the position won't be impacted.

Newcastle attempted the same trick in January as they tried to sign Henderson on loan for the rest of the season. They offered Martin Dubravka in exchange but the player rejected the proposal
