Where Manchester United stand on Frenkie de Jong and Darwin Nunez as transfer window opens
All eyes are on Manchester United as the domestic summer transfer window officially opens today, with clubs across the Premier League able to get down to business. International deals will still have to wait a little while longer, though, with that window not opening until July 1.

Work is ongoing to ensure United have the best possible summer, but with the transfer window having only been open for a couple of hours, it looks like it will be a while yet before any new signings are made official.

It is understood United are open to installing Tom Heaton as their second-choice goalkeeper next season, depending on the calibre of 'keeper they recruit. Heaton, 36, rejoined United last year on the assumption he would be their No.2 'keeper but he only appeared once as a substitute in the Champions League group stage draw with Young Boys.

United have prioritised Jurrien Timber as their top defensive target this summer with Erik ten Hag viewing the Ajax man as his preferred recruit.
